VAN BUREN, Mo. – The Missouri Department of Labor’s On-Site Safety and Health Consultation Program announced McClain Forest Products as the newest member of the state’s Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP).
“The SHARP program is dedicated to promoting a culture of safety for our workers at Missouri businesses,” said Anna Hui, Director of the Department of Labor. “We congratulate the team at McClain Forest Products Van Buren location for achieving their workplace safety goals and joining an elite group of Missouri businesses.”
Free On-Site Safety and Health Consultations are provided to businesses at their request. Businesses that participate in the Missouri On-Site Safety and Health Consultation Program may be eligible to become a SHARP member. SHARP members have lower workers’ compensation insurance premiums and are exempt from Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) inspections for a period of time.
McClain Forest Products was honored for its achievement during a ceremony Oct. 19, 2018, at its place of business, located at Hwy 60 East, HCR 2, Box 2366, Van Buren, MO 63965. Officials from OSHA and the Missouri Department of Labor attended the event to present McClain Forest Products a certificate of recognition, a SHARP flag and a proclamation issued by Governor Michael L. Parson.
In fiscal year 2018, the safety program corrected conditions at participating businesses that could have resulted in more than $9.4 million in OSHA fines. In addition, 2,573 workplace hazards were remedied.
